Welcome to the latest news in audio and home theater from Audio Nexus. We have a lot of exciting news about new products and brands that have arrived at Audio Nexus since the last newsletter. There are new models with small and large improvements over their predecessors, new technologies, some price decreases, and other news from 14 different companies. It is especially rewarding to see not just the way in which state-of-the-art audio and video have improved since our last issue, but also the number of new, affordably-priced products which bring a very large percentage of that performance into a range which should fit into almost anyone's budget.

Here's a quick, "executive" summary of some of the news:

• Amplifiers - Audio Research and Conrad Johnson have both introduced tube/solid state hybrids, while Rotel has a new Class-D model. ARCAM, Simaudio/Moon, and NAD all have improved their conventional models.
• Preamplifiers - Balanced Audio Technology has four new models, some of which give you the ability to switch sonic signatures and tube configurations while one is a new king-of-the-hill model that will be an exquisite addition to any system and a thrill to anyone who hears it. There are also new offerings from Rotel and Simaudio/Moon.
• CD/DVD Players - NAD has stepped into the "universal player" (CD/DVD/SACD/DVD-A/MP3/WMA) arena by introducing an affordably-priced universal DVD player. They have also updated both of their CD offerings. ARCAM has also added two higher-end universal players. Simaudio/Moon has updated their entry level CD player to a Special Edition version.
• Loudspeakers - Both Quad and Vandersteen have released updated and improved models. Vandersteen has a new, on-wall center channel, and Sonus faber has a new top-of-the-line model in the Elipsa. Both sound and aesthetics are remarkable.
• Power Line Conditioners - Summer is the time for brownouts and blackouts which can do anything from blow a fuse to destroy equipment. Many inexpensive power strips do not adequately protect your equipment and probably hurt the sound. Shunyata Research has introduced three new, lower-priced models and a new top-of-the-line unit. Rotel has also expanded into this area with some excellent units that can even provide battery backup and correct for AC voltage changes.
• Audio-Video Furniture - Salamander Designs has always had superb modular products. They have now added a new line of fine furniture models that will complement almost any decor.
• Video - Runco has brought smiles to our faces again by improving performance, reducing prices, and extending the model offerings on their superb range of plasmas, LCDs, and projectors. The best is no longer out of reach.
