Wavelength Audio

Wavelength Audio Brick USB D/A converterIn his ongoing efforts to keep Wavelength USB DAC owners at the forefront of this technology, J. Gordon Rankin has been working on numerous advances for all of his models, many of which will be hitting the market in the next few months. The first to be released is the Brick version 3 which incorporates several advances, including an upgrade to 24-bit/96 kHz capability. When we first heard the V3, we were, frankly, startled at how much better it sounded than the V2. The Brick V3 exhibits far more detail, clarity, and spatiality than the previous model, even when playing standard 16-bit/44.1 kHz music files. We perceived far more improvement than we were expecting, and the Brick V3 is now far more engaging and pleasurable to listen to than before. Owners of the previous V1 and V2 versions can easily have their units upgraded to the V3. Just contact us at the store for further information.

Wavelength Audio has also just released a new product called WaveLink. This product is a 24-bit, 192 kHz, high-speed, class-2 USB device designed to accept digital audio via the USB output of a computer and convert it to a traditional coaxial digital output (SPDIF). This output can be fed to legacy digital-to-analog converters which do not have their own USB input. Thus, the WaveLink will allow older DACs to work with sampling rates up to 24/192. While a WaveLink/legacy DAC combination should not be expected to perform quite as well as a modern USB DAC, it will, nevertheless, allow owners of these older DACs to improve significantly the levels of performance achievable when accepting feeds from a PC or MAC computer. The WaveLink sells for $900.
