NEW PRODUCTS Rogue AudioAfter more than three years of research and development, Rogue Audio has proudly introduced their Hera reference preamplifier at $7495. The Hera's innovative and proprietary circuitry uses eight of the Russian 6H30P tubes in a fully-balanced design that is a worthy companion for their flagship power amplifier, the Zeus. That technology translates into amazing detail, smoothness, and refinement which place the Hera in the upper echelon of high-end preamplifiers. Rogue put a great deal of effort into making the Hera feature rich without sacrificing sonic integrity. The Hera's designers believe that the best sound can only be achieved by avoiding the use of microprocessors or digital domain technology for remote control or switching functions. Every aspect of the Hera's design is aimed at maintaining near perfect signal integrity. To that end they have designed a stepped volume control that uses purely resistive elements to derive more than 120 individual volume steps. This volume control switch is proprietary and manufactured in Switzerland specifically for Rogue Audio. The massive switch can be engaged by a motor for remote control of volume. This is the purest and best way to design a volume control with remote control capability. For the same reasons of maintaining sonic purity, all functional switching such as source selection is done via heavy duty silver switches rather than being routed through a silicon chip. Capacitors, resistors, and all other critical parts are of the highest quality as well. The two box chassis itself is a fully machined work of industrial art that provides the electrical isolation necessary for the incredibly low noise floor of the Hera. The sophisticated design also includes a phase inversion button, a balance control bypass, a processor loop, a unity gain bypass for integration of the Hera into a home theater system, and a host of other features. Rogue now offers tube preamplifiers ranging from $995 to $7495. They have created this huge range so that all music lovers, whether beginning audiophiles or those looking for a no-holds-barred solution, can have a preamplifier which offers the best possible performance at a given price. Everybody can rely on Rogue for their next preamplifier.
