To celebrate their 30th anniversary, 30 years of perfecting analog playback, VPI has introduced their Classic turntable/tonearm package at $2500. The Classic turntable comes equipped with the unipivot JMW 10.5i special Edition tonearm. It also has VPI's new pure copper wire, a solid plinth with black oak or walnut finish, an AC synchronous motor, a new cast aluminum platter, a silent inverted bearing, and new isolation feet derived from the HR-X. The arm, motor, and platter are all rigidly mounted to the plinth which gives the classic speed stability and low level resolution akin to a master tape. The one-piece chassis is absolutely solid and non-resonant. It is not a wooden frame; it is a solid, laminated, 2.5-inch thick MDF block with an 11 gauge steel plate attached to the top. There are also silicone damping and long bolts through all the layers. The chassis weighs 30 pounds and is totally non-resonant.

The sound of the Classic Turntable is fast, clean, and wide open with deep, powerful bass, and superb speed stability. This completely new design has produced the simplest and one of the best sounding VPI turntables to date.
