Pro-Ject

Pro-Ject has redesigned the incredibly popular Debut 3 turntable and released it as a new model, the Debut Carbon. The Carbon has the following improvements over its predecessor:

• The tonearm is now made of carbon fiber, a material well known for its high stiffness, strength, and concomitant freedom from the tonal colorations caused by tonearm flex and vibration.
• Platter size has been increased to a full 12 inches so it now supports the LP over its entire surface. Platter mass has been increased for improved speed stability.
• A new Sorbothane motor suspension system improves vibration isolation.
• The included phono cartridge has been substantially upgraded to the Ortofon 2M Red.
• All 7 high-gloss color options, including black, are available at the same $399 price.

The result of all of these improvements is a better looking and better sounding product at essentially the same price as the old model. This is a win-win situation for everyone.

As with the Debut 3, there is also a USB version available called the Carbon USB ($499). It contains a phono preamplifier with analog and USB outputs for those without a phono preamplifier in their system or who want to transfer their LPs to a computer.

Pro-Ject has also announced some startling price cuts on some of their turntables and turntable/cartridge combinations ranging from $200 to $2000! The models which are affected are the Xperience Classic, the Perspex Acrylic, the Perspex Acrylic with Blue Point Special, the Xtension 12, the Xtension 12 with Celebration II, the RM-9.2, the RM-9.2 with Blue Point Special, the RM-10.1, and the RM-10.1 with Blue Point Special.
