Rotel
Rotel has updated and replaced their top home theater receiver and their home theater preamplifier/processor with new models, the RSX-1562 receiver ($2599) and the RSP-1572 processor ($2199). These two models have many exciting performance improvements and added features and, best of all, are the same price as their predecessors.
Here's a list of the improvements:
Use of a dual, 32-bit Digital Signal Processing (DSP) chip for faster processing speed and reduced signal errors
Addition of the Dolby Pro Logic IIz format, which adds front height channels to the performance for additional spatial clues that create an even more realistic surround-sound environment
Support of HDMI 1.4 and 3D up to 1080p using the latest generation Faroudja Torina FLI30336 Cortez Advanced Platform
Inclusion of dual HDMI outputs, including one that supports ARC (Audio Return Channel)
Ability to pass an HDMI signal in Standby mode to allow the user to watch TV without the system turned fully on
Six HDMI inputs to cover all of your sources
A front panel USB input to get the best sound from an iPod or iPad (or other USB Class2 device)
Inclusion of a Bluetooth dongle that allows streaming of music sources like Pandora, Spotify, Rhapsody, and Internet radio from any Bluetooth-enabled device
Addition of a sophisticated Parametric Equalizer to allow you to make meaningful improvements to sound quality in your room by reducing unwanted resonances
In other news, there's now a remote control application for certain Rotel components, and it's available to download from the iTunes store. This free application allows the user to control the RCX-1500 receiver and RDG-1520 Internet tuner via an iPhone or iPad and includes all functions found on the standard Rotel remote controls.
