Primaluna

In our last issue we introduced the latest products from PrimaLuna, their flagship DiaLogue Premium series of preamplifiers, power amplifiers, and integrated amplifiers. As with all amplifiers from this company, the power output tubes are run very conservatively to maximize reliability and tube life. Therefore, PrimaLuna amplifiers don't have quite as high a power output as other brands using similar tubes, delivering about 35 to 43 watts/channel, depending upon the model of output tube used. However, we and our customers have found that these amplifiers do have the ability to drive almost any loudspeaker they're paired with. Nevertheless, to provide for the need of users who do need or want more power, two new High Power (HP) products have been introduced, the DiaLogue Premium HP power amplifier at $3799 and the DiaLogue Premium HP integrated amplifier at $4199. Both models deliver approximately twice as much power as their standard versions.

Both of these new HP models have the same gorgeous sonics as the standard models with the added benefits of the better dynamics, higher volumes, and improved bass control one would expect from a higher power model. In addition, as with the standard model power amplifier, the HP power amplifier can be converted to a mono-block at the flip of a switch, thus delivering all of the output of both of its 70 to 80 watt channels into a single channel. With two of these HP power amplifiers set to mono, one for each channel, one has a stupendous amount of stunning tube power available, enough for any conceivable situation.
