Think very small and compact, and you'll be all set for Totem Acoustic's new ultra-compact offerings, the KIN Mini bookshelf loudspeakers ($500 per pair) and the KIN Sub compact subwoofer ($699).

More than a quarter century of experience in designing compact loudspeakers has allowed Totem Acoustic to develop a bookshelf model that is so compact it practically disappears from your room. It is a 2-way design using a soft--dome tweeter and a phenolic, honeycomb woofer. In addition to the cosmetic and placement advantages afforded by such a small design, however, the acoustic advantages of such a point-source loudspeaker allow the Minis to image with amazing precision and to throw a gigantic image that never seems bounded by a box. The new KIN Mini ultra-compact unit provides a sonic landscape that is so large, so precise, so articulate and so musically in-phase that it's hard to believe it's emerging from such a tiny enclosure. It can be used either by itself or with the Mini Sub to yield a truly-full-range package that has no frequency limitations.

The KIN Sub provides a musically pleasing foundation wherever bass support is desired. Articulate and precise across a full range of bass frequencies, it is clear and coherent in all applications such as 2-channel stereo and home theater. The dynamic capabilities of such a small subwoofer (9.5" x 8.25" x 11.25") are truly remarkable. The sealed cabinet (no bass port) allows for flexible placement since there is less sensitivity to reflections from room boundaries than a ported system. The extreme performance driver uses a full 8-inch carbon fiber cone, and gives the Mini Sub bass extension down to 29 Hz! That's excellent for any subwoofer and nothing short of incredible for one this size. It has full phase adjustment from 0 to 180 degrees to assist in proper phasing with the main loudspeakers. High- and low-pass audio connections and a crossover bypass give the unit excellent connection flexibility.

Both the KIN bookshelf and Sub models come in a black or white satin finish and have a magnetically-attached grille. As with all Totem Acoustic models, the appearances are beautiful. Those cosmetics and the small sizes will let them blend into any room without difficulty.
