PrimaLuna has completely revamped all of their products with the new EVO 100, 200, 300, and 400 series. Each series has a preamplifier, power amplifier, and integrated amplifier. Prices range from $1999 to $4999 for their superb tube sound. There is also an EVO 100 tube DAC at $2999.

Never has a line of tube products offered so much audio and build quality at such affordable prices. Now PrimaLuna has revamped their entire line with 13 new models. In addition to cosmetic improvements such as elegantly-rounded edges on the faceplates, higher power ratings, and feature improvements such as headphone outputs on the integrated amplifiers, you get improved parts quality in many models resulting in elevated sonic performance.

Integrated Amplifiers

There are 4 models, the EVO 100 at $2299, the EVO 200 at $2999, the EVO 300 at $3999, and the EVO 400 at $4999. All models include point-to-point hand wiring, Adaptive AutoBias, headphone amplifiers, SuperQuiet inputs, bad tube indicators, ALPS Blue Velvet volume controls, and remote controls. The EVO 300 and EVO 400 also have subwoofer outputs, AC Offset Killer, triode/Ultralinear switching, and very expensive Swiss-made wiring, Takman resistors, and DuRoch tin-foil capacitors. The EVO 100 has large toroidal power transformers and output transformers. Those of the EVO 200 are larger, while those of the EVO 300 and EVO 400 are the largest. All but the EVO 100 are KT150 output tube compatible. The EVO 400 has twice the power output of the other models.

All models include a tape output, SuperQuiet inputs, dual mono topology, vacuum tube rectification, point-to-point hand wiring, remote controls, dual toroidal power transformers, and ALPS Blue Velvet volume controls. The EVO 200, EVO 300, and EVO 400 also have a home theater bypass input. The EVO 300 and EVO 400 also have AC Offset Killer, triode/Ultralinear switching, and very expensive Swiss-made wiring, Takman resistors, and DuRoch tin-foil capacitors. Only the EVO 400 has balanced, XLR outputs.

Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs)

The EVO 100 DAC at $2999 with an all-tube output section is the world's first tube-based data clocking device, the SuperTubeClock. By incorporating a low-noise mini-triode vacuum tube into the digital clock, this design provides vastly superior resolution, detail retrieval, improved clarity, and increased definition and detail from top to bottom. This is where the magic happens. The SuperTubeClock replaces the solid-state oscillator normally found in a DAC with a mini-triode vacuum tube. By using a tube, PrimaLuna has significantly lowered the amount of jitter and noise, resulting in superior detail retrieval. This in turn yields superior detail and dynamics from top to bottom as well as improved overall musicality.

In addition to this unique design feature, 24-bit/192kHz oversampling, and DSD compatibility, the EVO 100 DAC shares many of the same advanced design features as the products discussed above. These include dual toroidal power transformers, premium output transformers, dual-mono topology, AC Offset Killer, vacuum tube rectification, point-to-point wiring, and premium parts.
