How to get started building your Stereo or Home Theater system
This year Rotel has significantly improved three of their 2-channel integrated amplifiers and two of their home theater products via introductions of their Mk II versions.
Acoustic and performance upgrades to the three integrated amplifier models in the 14 and 15 Series product lines include circuit design innovations and parts changes in key circuit locations to take advantage of the advanced design elements from their flagship Michi Series. These improvements are based on research that was three years in the making and involve dozens and dozens of individual changes.
All 3 models have a new Texas Instruments 32-bit/384kHz Digital to Analog Converter. Their PC-USB connections now support MQA up to 24-bit/384kHz audio and PCM audio playback up to 32-bit/384kHz. In addition, all three have been certified as Roon tested.
The A14 MK II Integrated Amplifier ($1600) delivers 80 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 120 watts of Class AB amplification into 4-ohm loads. Supported sources include analog, digital, PC-USB connection with support of MQA up to 24-bit/384kHz audio, Bluetooth aptX and AAC, and moving magnet Phono. A high-efficiency power supply, premium DAC, critically-tuned audio circuits, and robust amplifier design ensure the A14MKII delivers effortless performance. The A14 MK II's Class AB linear amplifier circuit is powered by an in-house manufactured oversized toroidal transformer feeding a bank of 4 slit-foil smoothing and bulk storage capacitors. The array of high-current output transistors supports fast transients maintaining critical timing with deep, controlled bass energy.
The RA-1572 Mk II Integrated Amplifier ($2100) delivers 100 watts per Channel of Class AB amplification into 8 ohms. An improved audiophile-grade DAC ensures that all of your digital sources deliver a deeply engaging listening experience. A broad range of inputs, similar to those listed for the A14 Mk II, allows the RA-1572 Mk II to be the centerpiece of your music system for many, many years. The RA-1572 Mk II Class AB amplifier circuit is powered by an in-house-manufactured toroidal transformer. The shape of the transformer reduces stray radiation to adjacent sensitive circuits, lowering noise, while delivering high current that can power virtually any loudspeaker.
The RA-1592 MK II ($3200) delivers 200 watts of Class AB output into 8-ohm loudspeakers and has analog, digital, XLR, aptX and AAC Wireless Bluetooth, PC-USB with MQA, and Moving Magnet Phono inputs. The audiophile-grade 32-bit/384kHz DAC and tuned circuits deliver a huge sound stage with precise positioning. The array of 20 high-current linear output transistors is powered by an in-house-manufactured oversized toroidal transformer feeding a bank of 4 low ESR slit-foil storage capacitors for controlled deep bass energy and accuracy of the music at all listening levels, even on the most demanding loudspeakers.
All models feature Ethernet and RS232 connections for control system integration, IR remote, front panel status display, intelligent power control, and an Audio-Direct Tone control Bypass mode.
The RSP-1576 MK II AV processor ($3700) has been custom engineered for music and movie lovers alike using nearly 6 decades of design experience. This high-performance multi-channel preamplifier decodes audio formats up to 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
The 14 audio inputs include analog, digital, aptX Bluetooth, PC-USB and a moving magnet phono stage. All 7 of the HDMI inputs and the dual outputs support 4K/HDR.
A state-of-the-art quad-core Texas Instruments DSP feeds an array of 6 individual audiophile grade Wolfson 24bit/192KHz DACs performing the critical Digital to Audio conversion. The circuit topology, coupled with meticulous selection and placement of each component, ensures that the RSP-1576 MK II can maintain the energy of a blockbuster movie yet be able to reproduce the subtle nuances and details of an orchestral concerto. Also included are Dirac Live Full room Correction using proprietary time-domain and amplitude correction algorithms, ensuring a pristine listening experience regardless of theater size.
Setup and configuration are available via the HDMI OSD and on the front panel fluorescent display. RS232 and Ethernet ensure compatibility with all popular control systems.
The RAP-1580 Mk II ($5000) has a front end that is very similar to that of the RSP-1576 Mk II, but it adds 7 channels of very high quality power at 100 watts/channel into 8 ohms, all channels driven. It also includes a large front-panel TFT graphical display that provides for easy adjustment of all configuration parameters. With this unit you don't need to add an external multi-channel power amplifier. Everything you need is right on board.
