Hana Cartridges

Hana has news in two areas. The first is the introduction of the S-Series Mk II low-output, high-output, and mono cartridges ($850), and the second is the introduction of Umami Blue ($2500).

Improvements of the S-Series Mk II over the original S-Series include:

• Tapered aluminum cantilever for added rigidity and reduced tip mass
• Cryogenic treatment of critical parts
• Body shape, modeled after the Hana M Series, damped with matte Black elastomeric
paint
• Brass cap with threaded fittings from Hana M Series
• SL MK II uses the Alnico magnet and coil from Umami Blue and ML cartridges and has an 8-Ohm internal coil impedance with a recommended loading ?80 Ohms.

The result of all of these improvements is significantly better sonic performance as compared to the original S-series.

The HANA Umami Blue high-end moving coil cartridge combines the vision of Master cartridge designer, Okada-san, with the history of unique materials, classic Japanese techniques, and modern audio engineering. The Auricle body design, unique and exclusive to the Umami series, is CNC-machined from Duralumin. The Blue shares key Umami Red components , including the precision-cut diamond stylus, Boron cantilever, and high-purity copper wires. These are then combined with the Alnico magnet-based generator found in the Hana ML to create the exceptionally musical Umami Blue. This synergistic moving coil cartridge design relationship of specific materials, unique body design, sophisticated generator construction, and hand-built precision is critical for outstanding cartridge performance. This creates a memorable and emotional experience with every element and detail working in concert to create a massively musical and synergistic result.

All the major parts in a Umami Blue are manufactured in-house by Excel Sound with its rich history spanning over 50 years.
