Audio Nexus Named as
a Sonus faber Dealer

Sonus Faber Concerto Domus loudspeakerWe are extremely proud to announce that Audio Nexus has been named as a dealer for the very prestigious Sonus faber line of loudspeakers. More than any other loudspeakers with which we are familiar, Sonus faber combines advanced design theory, gorgeous and hand-crafted cabinets, and a knowledge of musical instrument construction and performance to create loudspeakers of unparalleled beauty and musicality.

Sonus faber was born in 1983, the brainchild of Franco Serblin, who remains the chief designer and the creative force behind the company. The name Sonus faber is derived from Latin and means "handcrafted sound", a perfectly apt description of their product philosophy. All models are based upon the three cornerstones of loudspeaker design:

  1. Driver Design: The Sonus faber philosophy is very simple but makes great demands on the designer and is inherently costly. For this reason, very few loudspeaker companies are willing or able to put so much time and money into their driver designs. Sonus faber expends enormous amounts of time and energy developing drivers because they are the heart and soul of the loudspeaker. The better the driver, the fewer the problems that are created to cause trouble later. Development may take several years to perfect a driver design for a given application, but the end result is well worth the effort.

  2. Crossover Design: The use of superior drivers allows the crossover designs to be kept very simple. Sonus faber does not have to use complicated crossovers that attempt to fix problems that originated with the drivers. Most models feature an attenuated, 1st order design, the simplest and arguably most musical of all crossover types. The simpler the crossover, the more phase and time coherent the loudspeaker and the easier it is for an amplifier to drive that loudspeaker.

  3. Cabinet Design: No other manufacturer goes to such lengths to fuse Old World virtues with high technology. Even their most affordable loudspeaker is still comprised of no fewer than eight separate pieces of solid walnut as sidewalls to allow for resonant control within the cabinet. The more expensive models go to incredible lengths to fuse natural materials such as selected hard woods with high tech resins and metals to create cabinets whose characteristics always serve the music. Thus, the Sonus faber design approach always attempts to control resonances in ways that benefit musical reproduction.

So, if you're ready for a loudspeaker with the visual and musical beauty of a finely-crafted, old-world instrument, please come down to the store for an audition. Sonus faber has all the models needed for either a stereo or home theater setup, and we'll be glad to go over the options with you. For more information, please visit:
