The RDG-1520 is a tuner only, so it needs to be hooked up to a new or existing stereo system. The RCX-1500 is a complete receiver with built-in CD player, so all it needs is a pair of loudspeakers. You can also plug in your iPod through the front-panel USB connection and hook up your computer to play music files from, for example, Windows Media Player.
