Epos Acoustics

Epos has introduced two new lines of loudspeakers, the Epic line consisting of two bookshelf and one floor-standing models and the Elan line consisting of two bookshelf and two floor-standing models.

The Epic line is designed to remain true to all of the classical Epos standards and virtues while being as affordable as possible. Thus, the Epic 1 and Epic 2 bookshelf models cost only $599 and $799, respectively, while the Epic 5 floor-stander is $1399 per pair. The Epos designers paid great attention to every single, minute design detail to give customers the best sound at the best price. For example, they even provide the user with two front grille baffles, one with a cloth covering and one without, so you can have the best sound while listening in audiophile mode or the most attractive cosmetics for social occasions. Both of these baffles are machined around the woofer to create a gently contoured horn shape and, unlike a conventional grille frame; there are no added obstructions or sharp edges to cause reflections and sound colorations. All of the drivers are new and specially designed for the Epic models. The level of sound stage, depth and detail is truly exceptional, with clarity that outshines the competition. The new Elan range replaces the previous Mi series and starts by incorporating all that Epos learned during the development of the Epic. Then Elan improves over Epic with even more advanced design features such as specially-designed midrange and woofer drivers and extensive horizontal and vertical internal bracing to minimize unwanted vibrations and colorations. These models also have higher than average efficiencies, making them easy to drive, even with modestly-sized amplifiers. This new range is not only cosmetically stylish, coming in both real black oak and cherry veneers that are coated and polished with several layers of polyurethane varnish, but also uses the above design techniques to achieve even better sound. Elan has the same open and cloth-covered baffle choices as Epic. The range is made up of four loudspeakers, The Elan 10 small bookshelf ($1000), The Elan 15 larger bookshelf ($1399), and the Elan 30 and 35 floor-standing models ($1999 and $2399, respectively).
