Grado has revamped its most popular headphone line with the release of the new Prestige X series. All models from the SR60X through the SR325X now use the new 4th generation driver. There are also improved headbands and new, more durable cables.

The company has made sure to incorporate new drivers inside their headphones only when they have achieved a significant upgrade. The X Drivers bring a completely redesigned speaker and upgraded performance to the inner workings of the Prestige Series. Each model's driver is specifically tuned for the headphone it is built into. They have increased the magnetic power of the speaker while decreasing the effective mass of the voice coil. This results in a quicker, more responsive design. The goal was to increase the efficiency of the drivers while not only maintaining, but actually improving, the purity of the mid-range for which Grado is known.

Along with the new X Drivers, all five headphones in the Prestige Series are now built with new cables and headbands. The 8-conductor (SR125x, SR225x, SR325x) and 4-conductor (SR60x, SR80x) cables are now housed in a more durable, flexible exterior. These cables feature a super annealed copper wire that delivers improved purity of the audio signal. The SR60x, SR80x, SR125x, and SR225x are now built with a thicker faux-leather headband for a more comfortable experience while the SR325x has a new white-stitched leather headband, exclusive to that model of the Prestige Series. The result of all of this is better sound and a more comfortable listening experience, especially during long listening sessions.
