Hana has just announced their flagship model, the Umami Red moving coil cartridge, at $3950. Hana's master cartridge designer has brought over 50 years of experience to the synergistic design which uses ebony wood, rare-earth magnets, precision-cut diamonds, high-purity copper wires, Urushi lacquering and CNC-machined Duralumin. The synergistic relationship among the components of the moving coil generators (magnet, armature, and coil windings)is a critical aspect of outstanding cartridge design. All elements working in concert result in a memorable and emotional experience.

All the major parts in a Umami Red are manufactured in house by Excel Sound, a company with a venerable history spanning over 50 years. Excel's highly trained craftsmen skillfully hand assemble each Umami Red, ensuring an intensely musical experience in line with the Hand “brilliant and Gorgeous” sound quality ethos.
